A Lion Living in a Human Home

Lions are magnificent creatures and it is not surprising that humans like to be around them. But it comes with risks for both the lion and the humans. This video starts with a high-tension moment. We see an adult female lion attacking a man in a white shirt. The lion has grasped him from behind and he is attempting to escape but is on the floor. Meanwhile, a woman is trying to help by pulling the lion away. She shouts for help and a second man arrives. He manages to steer the lion into another room. Then, we get to see how the lion lives in this first floor apartment. The big cat sits on a human bed and the woman places her hand in their mouth which the lion seems to gnaw on but obviously does not bite that hard! Later on in the video, we see the lion pacing from room to room, walking up the stairs and perching on the window sill so that she can gaze out of the window.   This lion is hand-fed raw meat and it looks as if she has an enclosure in the garden. Her human friends play ball and let her chase fluffy toys and balls. Her movements are mannerisms are very like a domestic cat.

Lions in the Wild

In the wild, lionesses live in prides which are made up of between five and 15 related females. They are found in areas of Africa and Asia and like to live in open woodland, scrub, and grassland. Lions are carnivores and hunt mainly buffalo, antelopes, zebra and wildebeests but they will also hunt giraffes. The pride usually works together when they are hunting and this increases their success rate but male lions may hunt alone.
